Omar Barghouti is a Palestinian human rights defender, a co-founder of the Palestinian- led BDS movement for Palestinian rights, and a co-recipient of the 2017 Gandhi Peace Award and is the 2026 recipient of the Lay Down Your Arms Peace Prize for 2026.
He holds Electrical Engineering degrees from Columbia University, NY, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Philosophy (Ethics) at the University of Amsterdam. He is the author of BDS: The Global Struggle for Palestinian Rights.
On 19th Sept 2026, Omar appeared on a panel at The Peace & Justice Project Annual Conference, held in London.
